Rony Abovitz (Founder & CEO Magic Leap, Sun & Thunder)
Rony Abovitz is a technology founder, pioneer, inventor, visionary leader and strategic advisor with a diverse background in computer-assisted surgery, surgical robotics, AI, computer graphics/visualization, sensing, advanced systems, media/animation, spatial audio, and spatial computing/XR. He has a strong intellectual property background, having built multi-thousand patent portfolios in his start-ups.


Passionate about imagining and creating, Rony has a strong history of creating new technology fields and businesses from the start-up garage onward including Magic Leap, the world's leading spatial computing company he founded back in 2011. Magic Leap invented and developed the core technologies of spatial computing, and helped to invent and define the overall field.

Rony, who is also passionate about building a connected, creative, and collective world of human experience to make a difference both now and in the future, is currently working on his next new venture which he plans to launch in 2021 and was recently selected to join The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. as a Senior Advisor to leaders from around the world. He is a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society, a 2x World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, and has spoken and lectured at universities and technology conferences around the world.

Nico Berardi (Founder & General Partner ANIMO Ventures)
Nico Berardi is the founder of ANIMO Ventures. Born and raised in Argentina, Nico brings a global perspective to his investment approach. In his early years, Nico was part of the senior leadership of TECHO and played a key role in driving TECHO to becoming the largest non-profit in Latin America. He then went on to start Miami Angels, an angel investor network based out of Miami where he still serves on the Board. After finding his calling in venture capital, he spent two years with Resolute Ventures before founding ANIMO Ventures.
Ana Paula Gonzalez (Director for the SoftBank Miami Initiative)
Ana Paula Gonzalez launched and built 500 Startups' Miami operation, the first marquee VC firm to open an office in Miami. She now serves as the SoftBank's Director for the SoftBank Miami Initiative and is leading SoftBank investments in Miami founders as well as founders relocating to Miami. Ms. Gonzalez has played a critical role in Miami's ecosystem building. Gonzalez, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, moved to Miami in 2016 and began connecting with the ecosystem immediately.
Derick Pearson (Executive Director & President at Center for Black Innovation)
Derick Pearson is the Executive Director & President at Center for Black Innovation. He is a social entrepreneur with an authentic voice for change, particularly in the areas of education technology, and the growth of local ecosystems for entrepreneurs of color nationally. CFBI is designed to train and support technologists of color who are in the startup phase of potential employment, and entrepreneurship in potential high-growth businesses. CFBI's investment in technologists of color promotes and supports sustainable economic development in the communities where we work. In partnership with Felecia Hatcher, Derick also founded BlackTech Week in 2015, which is a national conference designed to support entrepreneurs of color who are in the startup phase of potential high-growth businesses.
Alexandra Rosen
Alexandra Rosen is Director of Venture Forward at GoDaddy, an initiative that quantifies the impact made by millions of digital microbusiness entrepreneurs on the U.S. economy at local and national levels.

Alexandra has helped companies from Fortune 500 to startups bring value to communities, customers and the market through new endeavors, authentic presence and unique programs. Prior to GoDaddy, she managed several global partnerships for Cisco, including strategy, research, and engagement for the Rio 2016 and Tokyo Olympics as well as with Live Nation. She began her career at Google in the early days of online marketing.

Passionate about empowering people and businesses through technology and creativity, Alexandra recently served as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator and as a mentor at the UpWest Labs incubator. She completed her undergraduate degree at Stanford University and her MBA at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Transplant Miami is a community of "pand-exiters" from NY and CA who are leveraging their talents, resources and ideas to innovate in the city of Miami. Transplant Miami aims to bridge a new wave of entrepreneurs, executives, founders and investors with the existing Miami ecosystem.

A brief panel will kick off the gathering and launch a meaningful discussion centered around the "pand-exiter" community, its integration into Miami's existing business community and the complexities and opportunities in shaping the new normal.
